Introduction: Jute is a kind of fibre. It is obtained from jute plants. The jute plants grow from five to twelve feet high. It has no branches. The leaves of the lants grow on its stem. It is covered with a thick fibrous bark. It earns a lot of foreign exchange for the country So it is called the golden fibre of Bangladesh.
Where grown: Jute grows well in moist climate and low swampy land. It grows most in Bangladesh. It also grows in west Bengal. Asam. Brazil and Indonesia In Bangladesh. the district of Noakhali. Comilla. Faridpur, Mymensing and Dhaka are famous for its cultivation.
How grown: Farmers plough land well and after a heavy rainfall seeds are sowp in the month of Falgoon and Chaitra. Little plants are then come out in a few days.
The jute plants grow up in two or three months and the bark get hard After maturity, the plants are cut down. Then the stalks are bound into bundles and kept under water for some days and they are allowed to rot. When the bark is rotten. it is then seperated from the stalks. It is then washed well in water and then dried in the sun Theus they are made to sell to markets. Uses: Jute come to our use into many ways. Mats. ropes and gunny bags are made from jute. It is needed in making paper, cloths, cushions, carpets etc. The stalks are used as fuel. poor people use the stalk for fancing their house. The tender leaves are taken as vegetables.
Conclusion: Jute fibre is golden in colour We cannot deny its utility in the present civilization. It is the main cash crop of our country By exporting it to oreign countries. we earn a lot of foreign exchange. So it is called the golden fibre of Bangladesh.
